He set up the business 30 years ago, mixing surfacer in an ordinary bucket. Today varnishing products of his company can be bought in Europe, America, Asia, even Africa. Jan Wołejszo, the owner of the company Troton from Ząbrowo, near Kołobrzeg, could just cut off coupons of his success. However, he is relentless in his activities which bring him and over a hundred employees of his company more and more rewards and recognition.
What happened at the beginning of December came as a real surprise to Jan Wołejsza. The company manufacturing varnishing materials was distinguished from among about 70 companies operating in zachodniopomorskie voivodeship, by being awarded the reward of Good Business ("Dobry Biznes") The reward was awarded by the weekly magazine Newsweek and Kronenberg Foundation, jointly realizing the project called Responsible Business. The partners of the project are, among others, Academy for the Development of Philantrophy in Poland, it's under the auspices of the Ministry of Regional Development and as far as media are concerned, the monthly magazine Forbes and Dziennik support the project.
Jan Wołejszo collected the reward during fifth successive conference (they will take place in each voivodeship). (…)
What did organizers recognize as the evidence of running responsible business by Troton? In simple terms - its engagement in the activities positively changing the world. The list is long. We’ll mention just some of them: The company financially supports the Centre of Wolf Reintroduction in Stobnica. Together with ecological Gaja Club and self-governments from kołobrzeski poviat, it adopted Parsęta, symbolically directing the faces of the citizens living on the river towards the river. Troton funded the ambulance for the association creating the hospice in Kołobrzeg. It financed the building of the pavement with lighting in its village. It has supported the needy, the ill and the poor for many years.
This far from ordinary manufacture activity of the company Troton was analysed by journalists and editors of weekly magazine Newsweek and members of Kronenberg Foundation. They, having observed the results of cyclical contests appreciating the social engagement of companies, reached Troton themselves. We investigated the companies' engagement in solving the problems of local community. We checked how long the company had been active in this field and how big money resources it engages in it – Paweł Łukasiak, the President of the Academy for the Development of Philantrophy in Warsaw, the partner of Newseek's project, told us. We were all impressed by Troton output. And listening to the company owner I was genuinely touched. None of us had doubts that what he does is not done to promote the company or to make him feel better, but to win real respect of people amongst whom he lives and works.
Jan Wołejszo collected the statute in Szczecin of the 4th of December: We all have the same dreams - he told us. However, not all of us manage to make them true. So, if we managed to we should share what we achieved or try to find another way to motivate others to action. Because it’s often so that help is nothing but giving a stimulus for action.
Good Business reward is not the only distinction granted to Troton from Ząbrowo this year. According to Gazeta Bankowa, the company has been the most financially reliable company from zachodniopomorskie voivodeship this year. They’ve just received the forth in a row Fair Play award. Among the statutes, there are also next awards Gazela Biznesu. Denary Koszalińskie and many more.
Social business responsibility is strictly connected with social engagement of business which consists in investing in the society development, and in the long run in building its balanced development. By social engagement, the companies contribute to solving many social problems, such as: unemployment, crime, apathy. In many cases the companies, by the realization of social programmes, help to prevent them from arising
