Make your children happy without breaking a wolf

31.01.2008 09:56:00

At length the wolf is brought to the furrier... or school, as happened on Tuesday, 29 January at Troton in Ząbrów. Students from a school in Robuń and Primary School No. 3 in Kołobrzeg created wolfs from sticks under the guidance of Waldemar Rudyk.

The participation of children from class IIIb of the Kołobrzeg 'three' and a sixth grade class from Primary School in Robuń was possible thanks to Troton and the Ecological and Cultural Association Club Gaia, acting together for preservation of nature and near-extinct species. Troton, which has a wolf in its logo, for years has supported the Stobnica Experimental Station of the AR Zoology Department in Poznań, that has been working on restoring a wolf pack, and by the way dispel the evil wolf myth. Troton has aided these actions. "It is hard to overcome bad habits of adults, that is why education of the young generation is so important, attracting its attention to problems of the natural environment" says Jan Wołejszo, president of Troton.
"Education through play, creation is all pleasure and stimulation to a different way of thinking, departing from stereotypes" adds Jacek Bożek, president of Club Gaia. It was apparent during classes in Ząbrów. "The children have never seen a live wolf, but it is a creative act, that's what artistic imagination is for, the element in your head" says Waldemar Rudyk. "We are from the country, we feel such things" observes Rafał Kowalski, a student from Robuń. Rafała nd his classmates enthusiastically sawed up branches and hammered in nails into the sticks, from which a wolf was being made. Third-graders from Kołobrzeg also were flushed, creating such a work of art. Some were excited, because they held a hammer and nails for the first time. It should be added that the arts installation was made from different branches cut off by roadsides. "The materials are things that are usually burnt and we extend their life" stresses Silesian artist Waldemar Rudyk, who during summer holidays 2007 arrived in Ząbrów by chance. "This river, the land about is a real sensation" he does not conceal his fascination. The more gladly he accepted an invitation to the event with wolves. Together with the children, they made one wolf, another two were made by Waldemar Rudyk himself. One of the sculptures will stand before the Troton building, two others will go to the schools that participated in the event.
Troton also founded prizes for participants of a drawing competition. Prozes for the best images of wolves received: Sara Roszak, Ola Zeleśkiewicz from Primary School No. 3 in Kołobrzegu and Kamil Kmieć, Rafał Kowalski and Kamil Jędras from the school in Robuń.
